Three links for those interested in the world of publishing and where it's headed:
Professor John B. Thompson talks to Williams Cole (The Brooklyn Rail) in two separate interviews, one year apart, about the changing nature of the publishing industry.
A third link is to Thompson's 2010 book, Merchants of Culture, published by Polity. Highly insightful, this is a very readable book that details everything Thompson discusses in these interviews and much more besides.
If you really want to know about the changes and challenges facing the publishing industry today, I'd recommend this book.
