I've created the following resources especially for independent authors. Click on the ones you're interested in.
Here's the thing ... I've been in your shoes. I've self-published four books and know what it's like to walk the path of writing, drafting, self-editing and seeking professional help. Empowering? Yes. Daunting? No doubt about it! These resources help you walk that path.
All of the information below is available instantly. You won't be asked for your email address or to sign up to anything. Just use and enjoy. Simple as that!

Your questions answered
If you're stuck on a particular sentence-level issue – e.g. commas, speech tagging, dialogue layout, punctuation etc. – or you have a self-publishing question, just let me know.
I'll post a detailed answer for you on my blog (your name will remain private).
I also recommend Nicola Morgan's excellent Write to be Published. The guidance on structural/developmental editing is brilliant for self-publishers.
Morgan injects a healthy dose of humour into her book throughout, so it's a guaranteed boredom-free read. Here's a picture of my copy – I wouldn't recommend something to you that I hadn't read myself!
There are more goodies on my blog, The Proofreader's Parlour, in the Self-editing and Self-publishing authors archives.
